Santa's Got a Brand New Bag

Presented at Objective by the Sea version 6.0 (2023), Oct. 12, 2023, 2 p.m. (40 minutes).

Santa is a critical tool for Mac endpoint security at Google. It has been maintained under open-source development since 2014 and successfully deployed at many large and small companies around the world. \n\n Santa was one of the earliest full-featured agents to adopt the Endpoint Security framework. Recently, there has been a lot of investment made in the project to fully embrace the ES framework, and core parts of Santa were redesigned to take better advantage of the new API. \n\n This talk will cover details of the recent redesign and the powerful new security features this effort allowed us to deliver. We’ll also discuss how Santa is deployed and managed within Google. Finally, we’ll take a peek at current and upcoming efforts on the Santa project and how these can offer stronger endpoint protections.
