Presented at ToorCon San Diego 20 (2018), Sept. 16, 2018, 3 p.m. (20 minutes)

Staying in a hotel can bring numerous privacy concerns. Shared WiFI, housekeeping with access to your room, weak physical security, and now security checks if you opt-out of maid service. Ever come back to your room and get the feeling your stuff has been moved? Was it housekeeping or someone spying on you? This talk will discuss privacy concerns along with ways to maintain confidentiality while staying in a hotel or AirBNB. Without bringing a bug-out bag or spending loads of money on spy equipment, learn how to use inexpensive and free tools found around you to detect and prevent breaches of your privacy while staying away from home. If you’ve ever stayed at a hotel this talk is for you. Maintain privacy the next time you travel.
