The Construction of S5; or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the DOM

Presented at Notacon 2 (2005), April 9, 2005, noon (60 minutes)

Who would try to turn a Web browser into a slide show? Eric Meyer, who built the surprisingly popular S5 format out of XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In this session, Eric will trace the evolution of S5 from work done by others to its current state, showing how a single XHTML document is turned into something resembling "PowerPoint Lite", including diversions into DOM scripting, dynamically adjusted CSS, and format compatibility.
