Tamara Yadao

**Corset Lore** stems from a fascination with vintage game console sound chips, music writing and DIY creative approaches to repurposing hardware and software. Over the last twelve years Yadao has spent in the chip music scene, she has been drawing inspiration from the inventiveness of (to name a few): YMO, Wendy Carlos, Kate Bush, Japan (band), video games, fantasy science fiction and the damascene, a late 20th century computer art subculture. As a result, Yadao’s music deftly expresses neurodivergent worlds. Worlds where existential discomfort drives survival through innovation by idiosyncratic thought. Among others, she has performed her music at the Hackers on Planet Earth conference NYC, OPENSIGNAL Festival at Brown University, a main stage set at Super MAGfest, Press Start Festival at Centre Pompidou in Paris, Cafe La Siesta in Kyoto, I/O, 8Bit San Francisco at DNA Lounge, FreqFest at The Smell in LA, 8static Festival at First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia, Eyebeam, Wonderville NYC and PAX East. She is also the recipient of a Jerome Fund commissioning grant from the American Composer’s Forum and released two chip music EPs — Corset Lore on the Philly 8static imprint and Graces and Furies with iconic NYC chip music label 8bitpeoples. Recent and upcoming projects include original music contributions for Super NES styled RPG, Twilioquest 3, upcoming synth + chip concept record 81 Terpsichore in 2022 and Fried Tofu Recordings’ Remedy, a benefit comp for the Asian Mental Health Collective. www.corsetlore.com
