In Social Engineering (People Hacking) we use the tenets of Dark Psychology to study the human condition as it relates to the psychological nature of people to prey upon others. As an example, In a normal day-to-day interaction, a person’s mindset is “How can I help another person to make a positive decision that is good for them?” But in social engineering interactions, we wish to manipulate an individual, group, or state into making decisions that will help us. In today’s presentation, we will primarily concern ourselves to learning and practicing tricks and techniques used in one-on-one (interpersonal) engagements.
Terry and I researched (nice way of saying “experimented on unsuspecting individuals”) over a hundred psychology tactics used by professionals who wish to help or manipulate others. Like, all tools these tricks can be used to foster positive interactions, communications, and decisions. But many turn these psychological techniques into social engineering tricks that we can identify in commercials, internet ads, sales techniques, managers, leaders, co-workers, and the very people we trust and love, children and spouses.
Come learn and practice some of the cornerstone social engineering manipulating tactics and tricks common use today. Walk away with both an understanding of how to use and how to defend yourself in social interactions.
Remember; We are here to help you, help us.
