Project Room Service

Presented at PhreakNIC 23 (2019), Nov. 9, 2019, 11 a.m. (60 minutes).

Let me ask you a quick question; when you came to this conference, did you bring a bunch of crap with you just to setup in the hotel? If you did, you probably told yourself some reason like, "Those hackers are a shifty bunch, and the hotels never properly secure their network." Or maybe you can actually admit to yourself you are just a flat out nerd and are demonstrating addictive tendencies toward your technology. Personally I'm the former. I can quit this stuff anytime I want. But for those who can't, why not do your best to be a functional technology addict and streamline things for yourself? Rather than spending the first few hours after checking into your room unpacking gear, running cable, and configuring your own personal LAN, don't you wish you could pull everything out of your suitcase already pre-assembled? Well even if for some reason you don't, I'm sure you'd like to see the rig of someone that did do that. That's where "Room Service" comes in. It's your complete conference or vacation IT infrastructure in a single box! Just plug it in, connect to the hotel wifi through the built-in interface, and you'll have an instant LAN for all your devices, VPN, and a few other things we don't want to spoil here. Gotta give you some reason to show up to the talk, right?
