The C word: What the coronavirus pandemic can teach us about cyber security incidents

Presented at Kawaiicon 2 (2022) Rescheduled, July 2, 2022, 10 a.m. (30 minutes)

For a long time, we thought the great virus outbreak of our age would be online, not like an actual for real virus. Yet here we are. So, what can the way that different folks have communicated the COVID-19 pandemic teach us about how we talk about cyber security incidents? In this talk, Izzi will take you through some great, and not so great, examples of COVID comms and share some well-travelled lessons that can be reapplied so when it's our turn, we don't waste time reinventing the wheel.

Presenters:

  • Izzi
After supressing it for many years, Izzi is embracing her inner hacker. Don't be fooled, you shouldn't ask her pretty much anything about how computers work. But if you want to know how to get to the heart of talking about computers, she's your lady. She's a seasoned incident responder, communications Swiss army knife and she's pretty handy with a spatula too.
