Anatomy of a Massive Malware Campaign

Presented at Diana Initiative 2018, Aug. 9, 2018, 11 a.m. (50 minutes)

We've all seen that _weird_ stuff float across the wire. Maybe it's spyware, maybe it's porn, or maybe it's nothing at all. But from time to time, what crosses a sensor might be something more, something more nefarious, something much larger than you ever thought it could be. Emily will discuss in detail her hunt methodology and offer insight into how a little effort and a lot of curiosity can result in something both spectacular and a little scary. In this talk, Emily pulls a thread found during a routine investigation and what she finds will surprise even the most seasoned threat hunters.
