Decompiler Internals: Microcode

Presented at Black Hat USA 2018, Aug. 9, 2018, 11 a.m. (50 minutes)

This talk sheds some light into the intermediate language that is used inside the Hex-Rays Decompiler. The microcode is simple yet powerful to represent real world programs. With the microcode details publicly available, now it is possible to build more intelligent binary analysis tools on top of the decompiler.

• Ilfak Guilfanov - ceo, Hex-Rays SA
  Ilfak Guilfanov is the author of IDA Pro and Hex-Rays Decompiler programs. There tools are the de-facto standard of the security industry for binary analysis. Mr. Guilfanov is still daily involved in software design and coding, in order not to lose touch with reality.
