**David Cripe** is a physicist and electrical engineer, currently employed in the research and development of military electronics systems. He is a lifelong experimenter, electronics tinkerer, guitarist, and inventor with over 50 patents. Active in amateur radio, he is a prolific creator of minimalist QRP radio kits, with over 20 designs in use by the amateur radio community. Most recently, he has turned his attention to understanding the psychology of innovation, working with youth STEM programs to cultivate the next generation of makers and hackers.
