The Hardware Striptease Club - Letting the Smart Home Strip Down to its Innards

Presented at TROOPERS17 (2017), March 21, 2017, 2:30 p.m. (Unknown duration).

In this session we will have a look on some smart home components. This is mainly about methodology of how to rapidly reverse such modern devices; from how to open a device, identify its chips, components and interfaces over to have a first guess on the device's physical security.

We will also talk about useful hard- and software tools which make reversing easier and resources where you could obtain useful information about the device.

You're invited to ask short questions, whenever you have them - and - after I have covered the basics, we may have a look at your own devices, which you might have brought along.
