The National Science Foundation (NSF) funds $70M annually across all cybersecurity research areas, including cryptography, cybereconomics, anti censorship, vehicle security, digital currency, privacy, dark web analytics and many more. We look for radically novel approaches to security problems and never know what the results of the research may look like. Some of the recent interesting projects include: analyzing online anonymous marketplaces in the wake of Silk Road; enhancing anonymity networks against pervasive attacks and identifying insider threats at financial institutions. This talk will give a brief overview of the NSF Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program and present some of the more interesting research results we’ve seen.
