State of DDoS and Defensive Clouds

Denial of service attacks are nothing new, but the perfect storm of cheap high bandwidth endpoints at the end of a low-quality development lifecycles has shown that even the largest cloud providers are vulnerable. Tales from the trenches, how this dysfunctional state of affairs developed, the realities of the landscape, the key actors and solution-blocking factors, and how effective defense can be achieved today.

  • Ian Gorrie - Technology, and Security Architect
    Ian Gorrie is principal at Locked Networks. He has been providing security consulting for eighteen years, leading projects at all levels of engagement including deeply technical implementations, risk management and strategy, improving security programs, and supporting policy. Ian has provided security consulting to organizations including Palo Alto Networks, Fannie Mae, and Microsoft. Ian is a chapter leader for the Seattle chapter of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), and is a former director of the Seattle chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).
