How to travel to high-risk destinations as safely as possible

While the best security advice about dangerous locations is often "don't be there", travel is often necessary. Danger can take many forms, some of which have been known and discussed for years, but threats to computing devices are new and constantly evolving. We will describe threats, current countermeasures, and areas for future research, with a focus on configuration of existing tools, operational security/procedural advice, and open source software.
