Automating Information Security

While the complexity of modern security breaches continues to increase security professionals have to find a way to handle the increasing number and complexity of attacks. Security automation is key to maintaining network security but has not been heavily adopted. This presentation will use NIST-defined security controls to provide insight into how automation can be leveraged for information security.

  • Danny McCaslin - Frederick Water
    Danny McCaslin is a Systems Administrator at Frederick Water in Frederick County, Virginia. He recently ended a five and a half year stint as a systems administrator at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center in Winchester, VA. Danny recently graduated with a Masters degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Information Assurance and Security. His interests in the IT security realm include automation and malware analysis. When he’s not working or thinking about work, he enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, running, and other outdoor activities.
