Making pottery from CAD using open source tools

Presented at PhreakNIC 21 (2017), Nov. 3, 2017, 7 p.m. (60 minutes)

The talk will cover a short introduction to pottery, then explore a couple of techniques of using OpenSCAD to make 3d Printable shapes for casting slipmolds. I'll cover lessons learned regarding 3dprinting a positive, the method of preparing it for casting, and measuring and calculating volumes, mixing pottery plaster, casting, de-moulding, drying, using the molds, and firing. This will not be hands on due to the messy nature of the subject, however it should be interesting from a "coding physical things" perspective.
