Encryption for Everyone

Presented at Notacon 10 (2013), April 19, 2013, 6 p.m. (60 minutes).

Encryption protects your privacy and is essential for communication. However encryption is sometimes complicated and hard to use. I want to discuss what encryption is, how it is used, and make it easy for everyone to use. This will be a very n00b friendly talk about how to actually use encryption in email, in websurfing, and on your hard drive.

I am a hardware hacker, chiptune musician (_node), and a system admin. I am a system administrator for Hurricane Labs (www.hurricanelabs.com), an information security company based in Cleveland. I am interested in security and all things opensource. I attended notacon last year for the first time and performed at pixeljam. I really had a good time last year and I would enjoy presenting a paper this year.
