Introduction to the Open Web Application Security Project

Presented at The Last HOPE (2008), July 18, 2008, 3 p.m. (60 minutes)

This talk will provide attendees with an introduction to the Open Web Application Security Project (www.owasp.org) as well as a discussion and demo of application security hacks based on research of common client issues discovered when performing assessments. In the end, those attending will have a better understanding of APPSEC.

  • Tom Brennan
    Tom Brennan aka jinxpuppy has 15+ years experience with technology and information security related industries. When not hacking for charities (http://www.hackersforcharity.org), he provides Proactive Risk, a unique combination of business acumen and security expertise. In addition to co-authoring the OWASP Version 2.0 testing guide, Brennan has also been quoted and featured in several publications/programs including USA Today, Wall Street Journal, NBC News, and Dark Reading and has spoken before the United Nations GAID and many other conferences, conventions, and other professional events. For fun, he provides leadership to 10,000+ APPSEC members of the Open Web Application Security Project (http://www.owasp.org) as an OWASP Foundation board member and is also the NY/NJ chapter president.
