Build a PolyCoin crypto miner (Game, not real crypto)

Presented at May Contain Hackers (MCH2022), July 25, 2022, 7 p.m. (120 minutes).

Work in teams to assemble all the parts of the PolyCoin crypto miner units together in to a complete unit and then deploy it within MCH. This will include surface mount soldering, through hole soldering, cutting, laminating, using programming software, to fully assemble and build a working unit.

Work in teams to assemble all the parts of the PolyCoin crypto miner units together in to a complete unit and then deploy it within MCH. This will include surface mount soldering, through hole soldering, cutting, laminating, using programming software, to fully assemble and build a working unit.

Each team will be responsible for producing one unit, I'll bring enough to make at least 4 units (I'll try for more if I can). Some parts will be pre-made due to time constraints (e.g. 3D printed case) but the process to design and print them will be covered.

Skills that will be covered are surface mount soldering of the main PCB, normal through hole soldering of certain parts including the use of flux, rework hot-air to fix issues, connector crimping, programming of software in to the various components, and how the units are put on-line and in to the game.
