Hastening the Demise of the #Manel

Presented at Diana Initiative 2017, July 27, 2017, 8:30 p.m. (30 minutes)

Breaking into the security con circuit can be extremely intimidating, especially for first-time presenters. From choosing a conference to submitting abstracts to the presentation itself, the entire process can be overwhelming. Presenting not only is great for professional development, but it teaches self-advocacy. There also is the pay it forward aspect, providing role models for current and future generations, and breaking stereotypes within the industry. I’ll offer writing and submission tips and lessons learned, pulling from my own experience entering the speaking circuit, serving on program committees, and working with my own team to build out our thought leadership.
