Medical Device Security: Current State of the Art

From implantable devices like pacemakers, to insulin pumps, to electronic health records, to home health monitoring and mobile health apps — the security of medical devices and patient information are a growing concern in healthcare environments. The industry is still in the early stages of identifying risks and threats to medical devices and personal health information, and we’ve a long road ahead. With a holistic overview of the current state of medical device security, this talk helps attendees gain insights into key areas and trends.

    Shawn Merdinger is a security researcher and analyst at the University of Florida & Shands Academic Health Center and founder of the MedSec group on LinkedIN. He has worked with Cisco Systems, TippingPoint, and as a independent security consultant. He is a technical editor for Cisco Press, Pearson, Wiley, Syngress and has presented at security conferences like DEFCON, Ph-Neutral, ShmooCon, CONfidence, NoConName, O’Reilly, IT Underground, CarolinaCon and SecurityOpus.
