OPENING ADDRESS - HACKING FOR THE NEXT CENTURY

Presented at Beyond HOPE (1997), Aug. 9, 1997, noon (60 minutes)

In this age of heightened awareness about security and hacking, wherehave all the good hacks gone? Too many are claiming the title "hacker"when they are no more than snot-nosed wannabe posers. Or worse, downrightpetty criminals, as was witnessed at Defcon when people were tryingto pass counterfeit bills and bad counterfeit bills at that. Brock willtalk about where hackers have come from, where they've gone, and wherethey should head into the new millenium.
